FRIDAY, September 3, 2010: Well, Hurricane Earl ended up being dud. Not much rain or wind. My guess is that the strongest winds we saw were around 25-30 mph. Stayed further offshore than the models predicted, which is good. Nobody fished.


THURSDAY, September 2, 2010: Most everyone is preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Earl.

Mike Malone caught a 30-inch, 8 lb.13 oz. flounder on a live minnow north of the Rt. 50 Bridge in the East Channel.


WEDNESDAY, September 1, 2010: Several boats ventured out to get their final days in before Hurricane Earl graces us with his appearance.

"Miss Jane II" released 1 white marlin in the Washington.

"Osprey" released 3 white marlin in the Washington.

"Marlin Magic" released 3 white marlin in the Washington.

"Cyntinory" released 4 white marlin in the Washington.

"Billfisher" released 7 white marlin in the Washington.

"DA Sea" released 9 white marlin and a blue marlin in the Washington.

"Reel Joy" released 5 white marlin in the Washington.

"Pumpin' Hard 58" released 6 white marlin in the Washington.

"Espadon" released 8 white marlin in the Washington.

"Fin-ness" released 10 white marlin in the Washington.

"Cerveza" moved 6 miles east of the fleet and released 21 white marlin in the Washington.

"Marli" released 3 white marlin and caught 10 dolphin in the Baltimore.

"Hod Rod" released 1 white marlin in the Washington.

"About Time" released a white marlin in the Washington and had 30-40 dolphin.

"Fish Bonz" released 4 white marlin in the Washington.

"Foolish Pleasures" released 6 white marlin in the Washington.

"All In" released 10 white marlin in the Washington.

"Restless Lady" had 11 yellowfin tuna, and 4 gaffer dolphin.

"Nontypical" released 9 white marlin.

Elsewhere, the "Bay Bee" had 71 throwback flounder during their 2 trips.

"Morning Star" had a good catch of sea bass and some large flounder. Dale Seiger had a 25-incher, caught on squid.


TUESDAY, August 31, 2010: Flounder fishing was tough in the bay due to water that looked like mud. The water cleaned up in the afternoon with the incoming tide.

Offshore, it was another great day of billfishing in the Washington Canyon. Not as great as yesterday, but still an incredible day. Check it out...

"Cerveza" released 13 white marlin.

"Pumpin' Hard 58" released 9 white marlin.

"Billfisher" released 7 white marlin.

"Reel Joy" released 7 white marlin.

"Miss Annie" released 11 white marlin and a blue marlin.

"Double Trouble" released a white marlin and caught 18 dolphin.

"Grand Pez" released 3 white marlin.

"Reel Naughty" released 6 white marlin and caught 12 dolphin.

"That's Right" released 7 white marlins.

Elsewhere:

Jerry Gray caught a 10 lb. 6 oz. flounder on live spot in the East Channel north of the Rt. 50 Bridge.


MONDAY, August 30, 2010: Today may be the greatest day of white marlin fishing we will ever see. I can't imagine it getting any better. The action centered in 700 fathoms outside the Washington Canyon (740 line). Check out these numbers:

"Billfisher" had 57 white marlin releases setting a new Ocean City record. The previous record of 27 was set in September 2007 by the "Cerveza".

"Osprey" released 22 white marlin.

"Sea Slammer" released 15 white marlin.

"Reel Joy" released 32 white marlin

"Pumpin' Hard 58" released 19 white marlin.

"Makara" released 32 white marlin.

"Legasea" released 27 white marlin.

"Tar Heel" released 30 white marlin and a blue marlin.

"Cerveza" releaed 33 white marlin.

"Playmate" had 22 white marlin releases.

"Moore Bills" released 25 white marlin.


SUNDAY, August 29, 2010: Another good day for white marlin fishermen.

"Billfisher" returned from deep outside the Washington Canyon with 22 white marlin releases and a couple of large yellowfins. This puts their season-to-date billfish total at 129 which is only 1 less than they caught during the entire season last year.

"Osprey" released 4 white marlin and caught 4 dolphin in the "Poor Man's"

"Marli" released a white marlin and caught 33 dolphin and 2 yellowfin in the Washington.

"Legasea" released 3 white marlin, a blue marlin and caught a yellowfin just north of the Washington Canyon.

"Pumpin' Hard 66" released 6 white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"D.A. Sea" released 10 white marlin and a sailfish in the Washington Canyon.

"Reel Joy" released 7 white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"Gran Pez" released 10 white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

Mary DiCarlo caught a 19.5" and a 22" flounder on a live minnow between the East and West Channels.

"M.R. Ducks" returned with a 65.5 lb. wahoo, caught in 60 fathoms north of the Rockpile.


SATURDAY, August 28, 2010: Some nice flounder were caught in the bay today and it looks like the marlin were really snapping inside the Poor Man's.

Madonna Metcalfe caught a 24.5-inch, 5 lb. 8 oz. flounder on live spot on the north side of the Rt. 50 Bridge.

David Leizear caught a 31-inch striper last night at the Rt. 50 Bridge.

Jim DiCarlo caught 2 flounder measuring 20.5 and 22.5-inches. One was caught in the West Channel. The other was caught between the East and West Channels.

Jeff Schmidt caught a 22-inch flounder on live spot off the 4th Street Bulkhead.

Paul Rentzel caught a 28.5-inch, 9 lb. 6 oz. flounder on peanut bunker near the Coast Guard Station.

Anglers on the "Pumkin' Patch" caught a 29-inch striper near the Rt. 50 Bridge, a 20-inch flounder near the Rt. 90 Bridge and some bluefish.

"All In" had 8 white marlin releases in 60 fathoms inside the Poor Man's.

"Reelentless" had a white marlin release, a yellowfin and a mess of dolphin. Caught in 54 fathoms near the 000's.

"Foolish Pleasures" hooked 24 white marlin, releasing 23 while fishing deep outside the Washington Canyon. The also caught 3 yellowfin tuna and 3 dolphin.

"Miss Annie" released 2 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"Osprey" released 4 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"Reel Desire" released a white marlin and boated a wahoo and 33 dolphin near the Rockpile.

"Legasea" released 4 white marlin and caught 9 dolphin in the Poor Man's.

"Marli" released a sailfish, a white marlin and caught 7 dolphin at the Rockpile.

"Marlin Magic" released 5 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"DA Sea" released 5 white marlin and a blue marlin in the Norfolk.

"Wave Paver" released 8 white marlin just north of the Poor Man's.

"Espadon" released 2 white marlin and caught 2 dolphin in the Poor Man's.


FRIDAY, August 27, 2010: Looks like the flounder bite heated up today. Anglers are catching them in the deep holes and also around the South Jetty.

Zac Hemler caught a 20.25-inch flounder on live mullet at the tip of the South Jetty.

Mandi Wells caught a 24-inch, 6 lb. 12 oz. flounder on the south side of the East Channel on live spot.

Matt Farr landed a 19.5-inch flounder near Harbour Island on live bunker.

"That's Right" fished at the Hot Dog and the Hambone, returning with 3 wahoo and 4 yellowfin tuna. The largest wahoo weighed 35 lbs.

"Last Call" released 7 white marlin in 50 fathoms at the 000's.

"Osprey" released 4 white marlin and caught 15 dolphin at the Rockpile.

"Marli" released 4 white marlin and caught 10 dolphin in the Poor Man's.

"Pumpin Hard 66" released 6 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Grand Pez" released 6 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"DA Sea" released a white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Reel Chaos" released 3 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Wave Paver" released 14 white marlin just inside the Poor Man's.

"Reel Joy" released 6 white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Billfisher" released 13 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"Sea Slammer" released 7 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Espadon" released 9 white marlin and caught a yellowfin and 2 dolphin in the Poor Man's.


THURSDAY, August 26, 2010: It looks like the billfish bite moved south to the Washington Canyon/Rockpile area.

"Cyntinory" had a longfin tuna and 6 dolphin in the Poor Man's Canyon.

"Marli" released 4 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Reel Joy" released 9 white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"Osprey" released 3 white marlin and caught 3 dolphin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"That's Right" released 3 white marlin and caught some dolphin near the Rockpile.

"Playmate" had 2 white marlin releases and caught 2 wahoo in 45 fathoms inside the Baltimore Canyon.

"Restless Lady" had 3 yellowfins and some false albacore's in the Washington Canyon.

Max George caught a 22-inch flounder in the bay off Martha's Landing.

The "Bay Bee" had 133 throwback flounder today.

Wayne McPartland caught a 9 lb. sheepshead at the South Jetty on live spot.

John Burkhardt caught a 9.5 lb. sheepshead at the South Jetty on a sandflea.


WEDNESDAY, August 25, 2010: Seas were a little messy today. Not many boats fished.

The "Morning Star" did get into some sea bass. Largest weighed 3.5 lbs. Caught on clams.

"Billfisher" headed out to the Baltimore Canyon and returned with 3 dolphin and a yellowfin.

"Legasea" released a white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Miss Annie" released 2 white marlin and some dolphin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Espadon" released a white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

MONDAY, August 23, 2010: Awesome day for billfishermen! Check it out...

The "Billfisher" released 26 white marlin today in 1,000 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon. They also had 2 yellowfins that weighed 65 lbs. each. They just missed setting the Ocean City record for most white marlin caught in a single day, set a couple of years ago by the "Cerveza" at 27.

"Miss Annie" released 18 white marlin in 1,000 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon.

I heard that the "Red Eye" was in the same location and released 10 white marlin, but that hasn't been confirmed.


SUNDAY, August 22, 2010: There was a good white marlin bite outside the Baltimore Canyon yesterday and the flounder bite in our bay heated up for some.

The "Get Sum" had 2 keeper flounder during their morning trip. Largest was 23.5-inches and weighed 5.6 lbs. Caught on bunker off Martha's Landing.

"Jade II" had 3 wahoo, caught on ballyhoo near the Hot Dog. Heaviest was 52 lbs.

"Marli" had 11 white marlin releases from 800 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon.

"Playmate" had 13 white marlin releases from 800 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon.

The "Get Sum" got into bluefish during their evening trip. Caught at the Rt. 50 Bridge.

"Billfisher" had 11 white marlin releases from 800 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon.

Katie Gichner on "Carol's Teakettle" caught a greater amberjack at the Bass Grounds.

The "Pandemonium" out of the Indian River Marina returned from a 36 hour trip to the Spencer Canyon with 2 bigeye tuna weighing 155 lbs. and 188 lbs. They also had a 53.4 lb. yellowfin and some dolphin.


SATURDAY, August 21, 2010: "Skip's Charter & Guide Service" had a 20.5-inch flounder during their morning trip, caught behind Marsh Harbor.

"Good Four Pop" had 3 nice flounder caught in the West Channel, south of the Rt. 50 Bridge. Weighed 4 lbs. 10 oz... 4 lbs... 3 lbs. All caught on live bunker and spot.

"Get Sum" had 6 keeper flounder during their morning trip. Measured between 19 and 23-inches. All caught off Martha's Landing on live peanut bunker.

Andrew McMullen caught an 11 lb. sheepshead at the South Jetty on green crab. He also caught a 7.2 lb. flounder in the channel off Gudelsky Park.

Alex Campbell caught a 14 lb. wahoo near the Chicken Bone.

"Morning Star" had a 4 lb. 3 oz. cod.

"Stroker" had 13 dolphin from the Rockpile. Largest weighed 19 lbs. Water temp was 82-degrees.

"Osprey" had 14 dolphin at the Rockpile.

"Marli" had a yellowfin in the Washington Canyon.

"Reel Chaos" caught 3 dolphin and released a white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"The Zipper" had a yellowfin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Pumpin' Hard 58" released 3 white marlin and caught a dolphin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Cyntinory" released 5 white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Jade II" had a white marlin release, a 60 lb. yellowfin, a longfin and some dolphin.


FRIDAY, August 20, 2010: Last day of the Mid-Atlantic $500,000. The Ocean City boats did extremely well. There was some final-day movement on the leaderboard today, which is common in this tournament. Marlin bite was pretty hot.

"Lady Luck V" weighed an 88 lb. white marlin to tie the "Billfisher" for the lead in the White Marlin Division. Caught near the 461 Lump. They also weighed a 375 lb. blue marlin.

"Miss Annie" weighed a 67 lb. white marlin.

"Alican" weighed a 70 lb. white marlin.

"Fin-ness" weighed a 42 lb. dolphin and had 4 white marlin releases.

"Reel Chaos" weighed a 105 lb. yellowfin tuna, caught deep between the Poor Man's and Baltimore Canyons.

"Billfisher" had 7 white marlin releases in the Baltimore.

"Pumpin' Hard 66" had 4 white marlin releases and caught 1 yellowfin and 2 dolphin in the Washington Canyon.

"Osprey" released 5 white marlin in the Baltimore.

"Legasea" had 9 white marlin releases.

"Cyntinory" had 3 white marlin releases.

"Cerveza" had 8 white marlin releases in 800 fathoms on the 120 line.

"Marlin Magic" had 5 yellowfins and a white marlin release in the Baltimore.

"Marli" released 3 white marlin in the Baltimore.

Elsewhere, the "Get Sum" had some keeper flounder today. Largest was 21.75-inches, caught on live spot.

"Morning Star" brought back some sea bass... largest 2 weighed 4 lbs. 4 oz. each.

"I-Cart-er" caught some longfin tuna and released a white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"Jezebel" had 60 dolphin, caught in 50 fathoms inside the Washington Canyon.

"Amnesia" had a 24 lb. wahoo and a couple of dolphin in 30 fathoms inside the Washington Canyon.

"Last Call" had 22 dolphin at the Rockpile.

"Jade II" had 5 longfins and 21 dolphin in the Washington Canyon.

"Salty Sons" released 2 swordfish and 10 white marlin on an overnighter.


THURSDAY, August 19, 2010: Only had 9 boats fishing today in the Mid-Atlantic $500,000. No fish were weighed.

"Marlin Magic" released a white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"White Lightning" released a white marlin and caught 11 dolphin at the Rockpile.

"Blood Money" released a white marlin in the Baltimore.

"Double Trouble" released a white marlin at the Rockpile and also caught a wahoo and 15 dolphin.

Elsewhere, the "Hot Pursuit" caught some flounder today at the AT&T Wreck. Largest was 23.5-inches and 6 lbs.

"Angler" brought back some dolphin, 16 miles off the beach. Largest weighed 22 lbs.

"Morning Star" had a 28 lb. wahoo from around the Great Eastern Reef. They also had a 5 lb. flounder.

"Bluefin" had 10 dolphin from the Twin Wrecks.

Ryan Gosnell caught a 24.5-inch, 5.8 lb. flounder in the Inlet on a minnow.


WEDNESDAY, August 18, 2010: Third day of the MA $500,000 was held today. There was some movement at the scales. Here's what we saw:

"Toplesss" weighed a 73", 80 lb. white marlin and currently sits in 3rd place. They also weighed 3 yellowfins... 63 lbs... 64 lbs... 66lbs.

"Rhonda's Osprey" weighed a 70 lb. white marlin.

"Billfisher" weighed 2 yellowfins... 60 lbs... 64 lbs.

"Reel Toy" weighed a 31 lb. dolphin.

"Paige IV" weighed a 68 lb. white marlin.

"Pumpin' Hard 66" released 3 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"Par V" released 3 white marlin in the Poor Man's.

"Miss Jane II" released a white marlin and a blue marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"Reel Toy" released 4 white marlin.

"Fin-ness" weighed 2 yellowfins... 78 lbs. & 84 lbs. They currently sit in 1st and 3rd place in the Tuna Division.

Elsewhere, Lindsey Hoffman caught a 24-inch flounder on a peanut bunker at the North Wall in the Inlet.


TUESDAY, August 17, 2010: Second day of the 5-day Mid-Atlantic $500,000 was held today and our Ocean City boats are really doing well. Here's what we saw at the scales today:

"Tar Heel" weighed a 24 lb. dolphin and recorded 3 white marlin releases.

"Legasea" weighed a 39 lb. dolphin.

Vincent Baiocco on the "American Lady" set a tournament record when he threw a 56 lb. dolphin on the scale and currently sits in 1st place.

"Fin-ness" weighed a 35 lb. dolphin and recorded 2 blue marlin releases.

Elsewhere, Megan Smith caught a 19.5-inch flounder between the East and West Channel.


MONDAY, August 16, 2010: The Mid-Atlantic $500,000 started today with weigh-ins in Cape May and at Sunset Marina in Ocean City. This is a big money tournament with the winning white marlin possibly bringing in over $600,000. This year, 135 boats are entered in the tournament with 41 sailing out of Ocean City, MD. That is up a couple of boats from last year.

Today, 26 boats left out of OC. Here is what we saw at the scales:

"DA Sea" weighed a 66.5", 59 lb. white marlin.

"Billfisher" weighed a 74", 88 lb. white marlin and currently sits in 1st place.

"Miss Annie" weighed 2 white marlin... 65 lbs.... 66 lbs.

"Cerveza" weighed a 70", 66 lb. white marlin.

"Cracker" weighed a 74", 82 lb. white marlin and currently sits in 2nd place.

"Rhonda's Osprey" weighed a 67", 55 lb. white marlin.

"Reel Toy" weighed a 70", 65 lb. white marlin.

"Tar Heel" weighed 3 yellowfins... 59lbs... 66 lbs... 71lbs... they also weighed a 20 lb. dolphin.

"Lil' Man" wiehged a 71.75", 69 lb. white marlin.

"Fish Whistle" weighed a 69.5", 65 lb. white marlin.

"Toplesss" weighed a 70.5", 69 lb. white marlin.

"All In" weighed a 61 lb. yellowfin.

"Shelly II" weighed a 49 lb. wahoo and currently sits in 1st place.


SUNDAY, August 15, 2010: Fishing was slow again offshore. There is some action in 100 fathoms in the Poor Man's.

The "Angler" returned with another good catch of dolphin caught on squid and peanut bunker at a natural reef.

"Morning Star" brought back some sea bass and flounder. The largest sea bass weighed 4 lbs. 12 oz.

Zack Baker caught a 26-inch flounder between the East and West Channels on a live spot.

"Hot Pursuit" had a false albacore and a couple of dolphin from the Fingers.

The anglers on "Garrett's Lure" caught a mess of bluefish around the Rt. 50 Bridge.


SATURDAY, August 14, 2010: Final day of the Poor Girl's Open. Not much going on. Here's what we saw:

"Last Straw" weighed a 52.7 lb. yellowfin and 2 dolphin (14.3 lbs. and 14.5 lbs.). They also had a white marlin release.

"Ebb Tide" weighed a mess of dolphin between 3.5 lbs. and 5.5 lbs.

"BBG" weighed a 17.1 lb. dolphin.

"Playmate" recorded 5 white marlin releases in 1,000 fathoms outside the Poor Man's.

"Samurai I" recorded 5 white marlin releases in 1,000 fathoms between the Poor Man's and Baltimore Canyons.

“Canyon Blues” recorded 4 white marlin releases and caught 5 dolphin and 2 longfin’s in 100 fathoms in the Poor Man’s Canyon.

Elsewhere, Nicole Maiorana caught a 21.5-inch flounder between the East and West Channels on live spot.

Cole Over on the "Angler" caught a 3 lb. 14 oz. sea bass on a clam at an ocean wreck.

"Morning Star" had a 5 lb. 7 oz. sea bass, caught on clams at a wreck. Anglers also weighed a 3 lb. 3 oz. sea bass and a 6 lb. 10 oz. tautog.


FRIDAY, August 13, 2010: Day #2 of the Poor Girl's Open was today. Pretty exciting. Here's what we saw:

"I-Cart-Her" weighed a 5 lb. dolphin.

"Marli" weighed 2 yellowfin... 59.6 & 61.3 lbs.

"Playmate" weighed a 63.2 lb. yellowfin and had a white marlin release.

"Fin-esse" stole the show again. They had yellowfin weighing 66.0 lbs., 68.2 lbs. and 76.5 lbs. They also had dolphin weighing 18.6 lbs., 21.4 lbs. and 43.5 lbs.

Elsewhere, "Fartin' Around" had 3 keeper flounder and 35 throwbacks in the East Channel on minnows. Keepers measured between 20 and 22-inches.


THURSDAY, August 12, 2010: Storms today. Seas were a little snotty. Poor Girl's started today. 78 boats competing. 17 fished today. 19 scheduled to fish tomorrow. Leaves 42 boats to fish on Saturday when the forecast isn't so nice at the moment.

Here is what we recorded on the 1st day of the tournament:

"No Worries" weighed a 27.3 lb. dolphin.

"Sea Mistress" arrived with a bunch of small dolphin.

"Fin-nesse" had a great day, releasing 10 white marlin. This will be tough to beat.

"Fish Whistle" weighed a 62.1 lb. yellowfin tuna.

"Sea Mistress" out of Cape, May, NJ released 4 white marlin.

"Alican" released 2 white marlin.

"Miss Annie" released 4 white marlin.

"Billfisher" released 1 white marlin.

"Brenda Lou" caught 2 yellowfin and 2 dolphin.


WEDNESDAY, August 11, 2010: Looks like the billfish bite may be moving north. Tuna bite is non-existent. Bay bite slowed.

Sean and Campiglia caught a 5 lb. 1 oz. flounder on an ocean wreck while using minnows for bait.

Kim Bounds caught a 33 lb. cobia at Great Gull on live spot.

"Angler" returned with a mess of dolphin caught at a natural reef on clams and squid. Largest weighed 16 lbs.

"Morning Star" weighed a couple of flounder and sea bass. Largest flounder weighed 4.5 lbs.

"Fish Bonz" released 2 white marlin at the Rockpile.

"Reel Naughty" released a sailfish and caught a dolphin in 55 fathoms on the 966 line.

"Reel Joy" released 7 white marlin in 400 fathoms outside the Baltimore Canyon.

"Billfisher" released 6 white marlin in the Baltimore Canyon.

"DA Sea" released 5 white marlin and caught a yellowfin tuna deep in the Baltimore Canyon.

"Rhonda's Osprey" released 2 white marlin in the Poor Man's.


TUESDAY, August 10, 2010: Saw some really nice catches today. Most of the action continues in the area around the Rockpile.

"Partner-Ship" recorded a grand slam, catching a sailfish, a blue marlin and a white marlin, all around the Rockpile.

"Samurai I" had a blue marlin and a load of dolphin from around the Rockpile.

Mike Vaughan on the "Evidently" caught the largest yellowfin tuna so far this year, a 93 pounder, in 70 fathoms near the Rockpile. They also released a white marlin. It was a good thing that Mike Wesson told Capt. John Thibodeau where to go!

"Cyntinory" released 2 white marlin and caught a yellowfin and a dolphin near the Rockpile.

"Alican" released 3 white marlin and a blue marlin in the Wilmington Canyon. They also caught a yellowfin tuna during the trip.


MONDAY, August 9, 2010: The "Fish Finder" came back with a 34 lb. cobia from around Great Gull where Capt. Mark Sampson also reported see tarpon under the boat.

Jack Pearson caught a 23", 5 lb. 12 oz. flounder on a gulp and squid combination.

"Old School" had a 48-inch dolphin from the Twin Wrecks.

"Rhonda's Osprey" released 7 white marlin in the Washington Canyon. They also had 6 dolphin and 2 monkfish.

SUNDAY, August 8, 2010: Logyn Ray caught 2 flounder on minnows in the Thorofare. Measured 21" & 24". Heaviest weighed 4 lbs. 12 oz.

Gary Redcay caught a 9 lb. 9 oz. sheepshead in the Inlet last night on a live spot.

"Reel Chaos" returned from an overnight trip with 3 white marlin releases, a blue marlin release, a sailfish release and 65 bailor dolphin. They started the night in the Norfolk Canyon and ended up in the Poor Man's.

Anglers on "Rhonda's Osprey" released 3 blue marlin and 3 white marlin near the Rockpile.

"That's Right" returned with a blue marlin release, a white marlin release and 26 dolphin from the Rockpile.

"Marli" had 3 white marlin releases and a blue marlin release near the Rockpile.

"Reel Toy" released 2 white marlin and caught a dolphin and a yellowfin near the Rockpile.

"Grand Pez" released a white marlin near the Rockpile.

"Espadon" released 4 white marlin near the Rockpile.


SATURDAY, August 7, 2010: "Morning Star" had another good catch of sea bass and also released a hammerhead shark estimated at 250 lbs.

Bob and Rose Kosydar caught 3 flounder in the Inlet. Measured 19.5", 22" & 28". Largest weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz.

"Cyntinory" returned with 5 white marlin releases and a dolphin from near the Rockpile.

"Marli" had 55 bailor dolphin from he Rockpile.

Ben Gillen caught a 29.5" flounder (9.6 lbs.) on a 6-inch Gulp! Grub in the West Channel. Steven Hudgins also caught a 24.5-inch, 6 lb. flounder in the West Channel.

"Fish Finder" released 5 spinner sharks, 1 blacktip shark, 2 dusky sharks and 1 Atlantic sharpnose shark. They also caught a lot of mackerel.


FRIDAY, August 6, 2010: "Jezebel" had a nice catch of sea bass and a tog at the Great Eastern Reef while using green crabs and squid for bait.


THURSDAY, August 5, 2010: Bill Salvatore caught a 25-inch 5 lb. 4 oz. flounder in the East Channel on live spot.

George Henning caught a 3 lb. 4 oz. sea bass on the "Morning Star".

Rich Silvani caught a 6 lb. 2 oz. flounder on the "Morning Star".


WEDNESDAY, August 4, 2010: Elizabeth and Emory Kitts caught 2 flounder (20.5" 21") in the East Channel on minnows.

Ray Henderson caught 2 flounder (19" & 23") in the Thorofare on minnows.

Sammy Worden and Bill Leash caught 2 flounder while fishing with minnows off a dock in Captain's Hill. Fish measured 21" & 22".


TUESDAY, August 3, 2010: Nick Dinko caught 2 flounder in the bay between the East and West Channels, north of the Rt. 50 Bridge.


MONDAY, August 2, 2010: The first day of the WMO was crazy! Set a single day record by weighing close to 60 fish. Last boat hit the scales at 11pm. Too many fish to list.

John Ficca caught a 19-inch flounder on a minnow in the mouth of the Commercial Harbor.

Brian Handel on the "Covert Mission" caught a nice flounder on live spot near Harbour Island.


SUNDAY, August 1, 2010: Can you believe it's August already? Slow day today. Most of the offshore boats are busy preparing for the White Marlin Open which starts tomorrow.

P.J. DiCarlo caught a 23-inch flounder on a Gulp! and minnow combination in the East Channel.

Teri Palumbo caught a 23-inch flounder on a minnow and squid combination between the East and West Channel.

"Tuna Box" started at the Hot Dog and trolled south to the Poor Man's where they picked up 2 yellowfin tuna and 2 dolphin. Largest tuna weighed 53 lbs. while the heaviest dolphin weighed 27 lbs.

Nick Arbutina on the "Reel Serenity" released a white marlin in the Poor Man's Canyon.


SATURDAY, July 31, 2010: There was one heckuva flounder bite today. Fish were caught in the East Channel, at the mouth of the Commercial Harbor and around the South Jetty. Offshore action was a bit slow. Most marlin boats scratched up one, but not many had more. No tuna action.

Bill Rineman caught two flounder measuring 20 and 21-inches on Gulp! around the South Jetty.

Barry Meredith landed a beauty of a flounder, measuring 24-inches and weighing 6.2 lbs.

Anglers on the "Reel Determined" had 3 flounder caught on live spot in the East Channel.

Anglers on the "Sea Hunter" caught 8 flounder measuring between 19.5 and 23-inches. All were caught in the bay behind the OC Airport.

"That's Right" had 5 yellowfin tuna from the Washington Canyon.

The "Bay Bee" had 6 keepers caught on squid and shiners in the East Channel.

"Pumpin' Hard 66" released 3 white marlin and caught 5 dolphin and a yellowfin in the Poor Man's.

"Bailey's Ark" released a white marlin and a blue marlin at the Rockpile.

"Takin' Care of Business" returned with a golden tilefish from 700 feet of water in the Poor Man's Canyon.

On the second day of the Marlin Club Ladies Tournament, 26 of the 28 boats registered went out to fish. No fish were weighed on Day 1. Here is a recap of the Day 2 weigh-ins:

"Oasis" released 2 white marlin and weighed a 61.6 lb. yellowfin caught by Nora Duke, all in the Washington Canyon.

"Marlin Magic" released 2 white marlin in the Washington Canyon.

"American Lady" weighed 3 yellowfin tuna (52.8, 55 & 57.4 lbs.) caught in the Washington Canyon.

"Shadowfax" weighed an 8.8 lb. dolphin.

"Reel Toy" released a white marlin in the Washington.

"Fin-esse" released a blue marlin below the Washington Canyon.

Victoria Roberts on the "Red Eye" released a white marlin near the Rockpile.

The 3rd Annual Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce Summer Flounder Tournament was held today with 181 anglers participating. This tournament goes by length of fish, not weight. Here are the final results:
