MD 2018 Recreational Black Sea Bass Regs—Effective March 1
Thursday, February 22, 2018

The secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, pursuant to Code of Maryland Regulations 08.02.05.21F, announces that the recreational black sea bass fishery will be closed from 12:01 a.m. March 1 through 11:59 p.m. May 15, 2018.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission approved Addendum XXX to the Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan, which includes an option to develop regional management measures. The region that extends from Delaware through North Carolina is working together to develop proposals for 2018 recreational rules that will be reviewed at the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Board meeting in March.

After the board approves the proposal the department will establish the season, catch limit and minimum size for the recreational black sea bass fishery for the remainder of 2018.
