MD Meeting set for striped bass regulation changes
Tuesday, September 9, 2014

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Service wants all stakeholders to be aware that the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) is considering management options to reduce fishing mortality along the Atlantic coast and in Chesapeake Bay for both commercial and recreational fisheries. These reductions are being considered by ASMFC to reverse the declining trend in female spawning stock biomass. For more details, click here: ASMFC Striped Bass Public Hearing Information.

To assure that all stakeholders are fully prepared to provide their feedback at ASMFC’s upcoming public hearing, Fisheries Service is hosting a public information meeting:

Thursday, September 18

6:00 pm – 9:00 PM

Florestano Building, Room 101, (Lecture Hall-101)

Anne Arundel Community College

101 College Parkway

Arnold, MD 21012

Park in Lot “F”

The meeting will provide an overview of the current science and management for striped bass followed by a summary of the various stakeholder perspectives - including those of the Department. There will be a question and answer session following the presentation to clarify any information in the ASMFC Striped Bass Fishery Management Plan that may be unclear or confusing.
