SAFMC reminds anglers about needed mackerel permit
The SAFMC (South Atlantic Marine Fisheries) reminds headboat and charter boat operators that they need a permit for king and Spanish mackerel in Federal ocean waters (EEZ).
The application for that permit is called the Federal Permit Application for Vessels Fishing in the Exclusive Economic Zone. That multi-permit application covers multiple permits including dolphin/wahoo. The cost is $25 for the first permit and $10 for each additional permit, so if you already have a dolphin/wahoo permit then your cost to get the Coastal Migratory Pelagics permit is $10.
The application can be found at http://sero.nmfs.noaa.gov/operations_management_information_services/constituency_services_branch/permits/permit_apps/documents/vessel/vesseleezapplication.pdf.
