On the Docks: WMO Record Blue Marlin 1,062 lbs.On August 5, 2009 during the world renowned White Marlin Open tournament, Ocean City saw its first ever grander blue marlin. Angler Bob Farris on the "No Problem" landed the 1,062 lb. fish after a 3 hour and 5 minute fight. The fish replaced the previous Maryland State Record of 942 lbs., which was caught by the "Memory Maker", captained by Marty Moran, in 1989.

Terry Layton, fishing with Jim Hughes on the "Nontypical", reeled in the first white, while Jake Burger fought the first blue under the direction of Capt. Marty Moran of the "Marlin Magic".
